Housing Starts & Building Permits Up Slightly

The U.S. government is reporting that privately‐owned housing starts in October were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,372,000, which is 1.9% higher than September’s revised number but is 4.2% lower than one year ago. Click here to read more.

October’s rate for units in buildings with five units or more was 382k.  Privately‐owned housing units authorized by building permits in October were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,487,000, which is 1.1% higher than September’s revised number and is 4.4% lower than one year ago.  Authorizations of units in buildings with five units or more were at a rate of 469k in October.
